Marshall Plan Tree Lighting Ceremony December 7 at Dodona Manor
Family-Friendly Event Celebrates Holiday Season and History Made in Leesburg
Leesburg, VA – On Saturday, December 7 from 4 to 6 p.m., the George C. Marshall International Center will host its annual Holiday Tree Walk lighting ceremony at Dodona Manor in Leesburg.
This signature holiday event highlights – through individually decorated trees – the 17 European nations that participated in the historic U.S.-sponsored post-WWII recovery effort known as the Marshall Plan. Secretary of State George C. Marshall lived in Leesburg while developing and implementing the history-making initiative.
This year, the Marshall Center is pleased to welcome the Old Dominion Chorus to regale the gathering with a selection of holiday favorites. The French Embassy’s Consul General, Caroline Monvoisin, will deliver remarks on the legacy and relevance of the Marshall Plan today.
The event is free, open to the public and perfect for kids and families. Hot chocolate will be served and a small craft for kids will be available.
