ETHICAL LEADERSHIP

Five-Star Character: The George C. Marshall Ethical Leadership Conference is created to inspire and develop leaders among high school juniors and seniors. This event gives students the opportunity to shape their approach to leadership and decision-making drawing on the life of one of the most remarkable and influential leaders in American history.

The conference leverages lessons from the life and example of George C. Marshall, whose life as a soldier and statesman serves as a positive and timeless model of effective ethical leadership and “five-star character.” Using examples from Marshall’s long career of service, participants learn and apply these enduring lessons in a modern context.

Timeless Leadership for Modern Times: The George C. Marshall International Center hosts FREE in-person leadership education events for high school juniors and seniors from Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland.

Five-Star Character: The George C. Marshall Ethical Leadership Conference leverages lessons from the distinguished career of a soldier and statesman who serves as a positive and timeless model of effective ethical leadership.

The conference opens with a Friday evening dinner, guest speaker program and guided tour for students and their families at Dodona Manor, General Marshall’s historic home in Leesburg, VA. Students will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with Marshall Center board members, staff and docents.

On Saturday, students will discover how Marshall navigated challenges during his career, discussing the leadership principles that guided him and applying his example in a modern context. Sessions include joint and small group discussions, interactive scenarios and leadership panels.
