George C. Marshall International Center Announces New Leadership for 2023

NORTHERN VIRGINIA BUSINESS LEADER TOM GREENSPON TO SERVE AS BOARD CHAIR

LEESBURG, VA – The Board of Directors of the George C. Marshall International Center has selected Thomas “Tom” Greenspon to serve as its chairman for the next three years. The Board of Directors also welcomed Andrew Boardman, a Leesburg resident and data center executive, as its newest member.

“It is a profound honor to serve as Chairman of the Marshall Center Board,” said Greenspon. “The last few years have been incredibly exciting, highlighted by the creation of our growing Ethical Leadership Program and the year-long celebration of the Marshall Plan’s 75th anniversary. I look forward to doing even more to share the legacy of George C. Marshall with leaders of today and tomorrow.”

“I am incredibly grateful to join the Board of the Marshall Center,” said Boardman. “I am committed to doing all I can to create more opportunities for high school students and emerging professionals to benefit from our Ethical Leadership Program and to generating support for the construction of a modern museum facility on the grounds of Dodona Manor.”

The mission of the Marshall Center is to “bring to life the timeless values of selfless service and unwavering integrity to develop visionary leaders worldwide.” Throughout his long career of service to the nation, from second lieutenant to Army Chief of Staff to Secretary of State, George C. Marshall was the living embodiment of ethical leadership.

Marshall and his wife Katherine made their home at historic Dodona Manor in Leesburg, and the restored house now hosts the Marshall Center. The organization has unveiled plans to construct a new building on the grounds. The new museum facility will host exhibits and educational programs, as well as provide office space for center staff – greatly reducing wear and tear on Dodona Manor. Email dbeckett@georgecmarshall.org for more information.

General Marshall’s principled approach to leadership was on display throughout every aspect of his signature achievement, the Marshall Plan. The 75th Anniversary celebration of the birth of the plan in 1947 presented the ideal opportunity to salute his leadership and shine a spotlight on a leader of high character who serves our nation and our world today.
